My '80 has begun running badly. It seems to be ok when it's cold, but acts up when it's hot. Misses and lopes, smells gassy. So I'm thinking it may be a choke issue? Thing is, the choke plate looks like its fully opened when hot, like it should be... how does the fast idle cam work? Are there other jets that could cause trouble or vacuum gremlins to look for? Everything looks to be in order per vac. lines, but I could be missing something....

Thoughts?

I have had the same issues with my '80. My main idle problem ended up being a bad ignitor. I have a ton of vacuum leaks and it is still a bit stumbly, but it still runs WAY better after swaping out the ignitor.

I generally take a known runner & swap it on to see what happens. I'm sure there is a testing procedure in the fsm, but that is what works for me. Have a neighbor with an '80 model? Coming to central Texas soon?
