Interior Push-button Opener Rear Door From Cruiser Outfitters on a MY2018 with Factory Liftgate

Has anyone installed the Interior Push Button opener on a model year 2018+?

I connected it at the housing for the lower button on the gate itself ("lower button"). The one that is accessible only when the gate is open, not the exterior button ("exterior button") you can use to open it from the outside while its closed, if that make sense.

It would close the gate but not open the gate from the inside.

I took off the exterior button, but the wires are so thin and the wiring from the button from Cruiser Outfitters is way thicker. I am wondering if this would even work.

So has anyone done the install and made it work on a 2018+?

I have visited with Squirrel and Cruiser Outfitters on this but their installs have been on aftermarket liftgates or 2017 and older models. However, I do appreciate all the time and effort they have put into their responses.

I have installed it. You need to use the one in the instructions, the one that you use to open it from the outside. The wires are very small and it is a finicky job to get them spliced together. I have only done the wires to open it so far. I have not bothered with doing the wires so it will light up yet.

Everything seems to work just fine?

Did you install the handle? Trying to figure out if there is a reason to install a handle when I will have a button.
