got a little bit of work done this weekend......a very very little bit.

got the axle breathers done. did a writeup cause a dude was over to get a switch friday and asked what i was doing. the write up is here

also, began new interior panels. got enough hardwood to cover two pigs and started by cutting one set of cargo panels and the four rear doors. i'd like to say it went smooth, but....well, you know how it goes. technically, i can't even say i got one panel done since i didn't get the clips located in the right place, so the lower portion isn't clipped in yet. :frown:

was hoping to work on it today, but it's cold, windy and snowing, so i guess i'll caulk my tub instead

the vinyl is a two tone grey, has kind of the "antiqued" look to it. for padding, i couldn't find anything thin as what was factory, so i used the thinnest headliner material i could find. the only staples i had were a bit too long, hence the few shiny things you see at the edge. i'll buy smaller staples this week.

i used a very thick board, probably thicker than i need, but it didn't look much thicker and i didn't want it turning to crap too soon. i also tried to crimp the panel clips so they wouldn't fall off like they used to do on the stock panels. would've been a great idea if the new board wasn't thicker

for the other panels, i will mount the clips to the hardboard, get them all lined up on the doors, then install the padding and vinyl, as opposed to finishing the board, and trying to get it mounted with all the clips in the wrong place

You mention using a thicker board than necessary......how thick was it? Did you use the old panels as a template, or use the cad files from mud? Looks nice though..... may go that route with mine.

 Looks like you spent allota time on those panels. Seems to me that vinyl will rip fairly easily. I saw some plexy type panels at Home Depot I'm gonna use on my :pig: I'll use rubber washers to deter any vibrations. Great job! :bounce:

What are your plans for your old cargo panels? I might be interested to use them as templates...

PM me if you're willing to get rid of them.

Can you share photos and more info :)

Haven't gotten to that part of the build yet as I still have some work to do on the door latches. They won't be full panels, just enough to cover the top/ interior handle areas. I'll post up on my build thread later.

yep, using the old ones for a template. there's not much left to them though which is why it's taking so long. i have to guess on the corners.

the hardboard that i used was 3/16, the other option i think was 1/8. i should've gotten the 1/8, but i know i'm tough on stuff. i may try the door panels with no padding, just hardboard and vinyl to keep it from looking so...puffy.

got out of class early enough on sunday to get a door panel done. will definitely have to return the large hardboard and get the thinner stuff.

also, the i really like the vinyl, just not with the armrests. so, it's on hold until i decide.
