Anybody have experience mixing in Hy-Tech Thermal Solutions ceramic paint additive (Insulating Paint Additive Makes Paint Insulate ) to knock down the radient heat from the firewall and floorboards? Says it will work with any paint. A package for 1 gallon of paint is $11.95 which is considerably cheaper than getting something like Lizard Skin. Thinking about getting some and adding it to some rustoleum to paint the floor/trans hump/firewall of the 40.

Hello from Sactown!

Hey man!

Hello from a local in sactown!!

That looks like a great idea....I was just looking into lizard skin (pretty amazing stuff) as well for the same reasons...my floor boards are all coated with bed liner material now and it get hot as hell in there....its not even summer yet!!

Hope to see you around sometime!

Looked at the Al's liner website, didn't see anything about it blocking radient heat. I may pick up some of the Hytech later on for a winter project. Just sucks that the shipping (they are in FL and I am in CA) is more than the actual product.

Try looking into TempCoat...we use it as a premium insulation in our aluminum car haulers...15 mil thickness will render an R20 value. It's microscopic hollow ceramic beads suspended in a latex paint...it does not brush on well or roll on well...it should be sprayed on for best results...however you could take your time and build up a thickness using a brush if necessary. It really works for what it is...that much I can tell. Sounds like you're able to buy the ceramic beads and put them in your own paint...not sure what the R value is done that way, but we've had great success with TempCoat...with our limited thickness walls it provides excellent insulation limited space.

What is the cost of the Tempcoat? I looked at their website and it did not give any costs.

Nice find.
If you end up getting some, let me know. Maybe we can combine an order & save on S&H ?

I may take you up on that. May see if my bro wants to get some as well.

Sweet .. I'll get it either way.
Roof is faded to crap, so I'm gonna paint the roof with that additive.
