I just take one part at a time Tom, whether its a major component or just a screw and concentrate on that until its as close to perfect as I can get it. It's when you slap it all together that it comes alive.
Here's the back door lock I just completed. I replaced the plastic handle with one from an aftermarket unit. The OEM part is a much better product, stronger and thicker spring, just generaly better built. Also the aftermarket lock is not 100% correct in dimensions. No problem with fit though. Still have to drill the hole for the retaining pin in the handle.
