Installed the sliders on my '94 --

I always get the 32 oz bottles and I always buy two oils for every one clean. If you are a member of car club, you can sometimes get two bottles for price of one which really helps as this stuff is not cheap. I'm in the Mercedes Benz Club America and I know George over at Leatherique pretty well so if there is enough interest from the various LC clubs, I could probably ask him to apply the same to the LC clubs.

turbocruiser,
you are absolutely right. Sorry for the confusion. Anyhow, best leather treatment I have ever used.
16oz was enough for me. I usually use the sprayer to spray the oil and cleaner instead of pouring.

Re:Installed the sliders on my '94 --

they've got some odd sale going on at the Leatherique site -- the problem with me is that I DON'T use the Prestine Clean hardly at all -- just the Rejuvinator -- am I doing this wrong? After I apply the rejuvenator, it gets everything clean and supple, and I just can't see the need for the Prestine clean --

Re:Installed the sliders on my '94 --

T, just make sure to wash up afterwards. Personally, I think all that hype over cleaning the leather is just that... hype. Guess if mine ever falls apart, I could just replace it with a custom wooden bleacher bench type seat. Should look good in a 40th :D

In my opinion the pristine clean is required. First, it really removes the residue of the oil. Second it really removes dirt more so than the oil, third it is absolutely essential prior to using the leatherique dye, leatherique crack repair, etc. Lastly, I think it is important to the stitching in the seats to remove the oil after the treatment so the stitches do not stay oily. Another thing I have noticed is that the oil is so strong that if I have it on my skin for extended periods, I start to itch with overly smooth skin so for me if I do not remove as much oil as possible, I itch if wearing shorts etc. HTH

Just looked at $$$ this morning. 16oz combo of one bottle each of the oil and pristine is $30. Same combo in 32oz is $50.

Doubt I'd go for the crack stuff. I've got some on the side bolsters of the drivers seat, but who wouldn't after 10 years, 124K in the SoCal sun. Still think it's in very good shape.

thanks, turbo -- i agree that just using the rejuv. has left me a bit messed up -- what i have done in the past is just use the rejuv. oil and it leaves the seats very tacky, so i can't even slide on to them at all -- and you're saying the prestine clean takes the oils off?

Doesn't this prevent the oils from conditioning the seats if you use the soap to remove it??

don't get it --

???

>> several people stated the whole "ohh, we wouldnt want the leather
>> on your baby soft a** to be rough now would we?"

I've found that throwing a burlap sack over the seat works fine for me. Why all the lotions and oil nonsense? I know that women love the stuff but come on guys, we're tough.

:D j/k

No, what the rejuvenator oil does is it penetrates the leather while at the same time purging out of the leather the impurities. When you clean with the pristine clean you are removing the impurities that were purged from the leather. It would be a really cool process to see with time-elapse photography as you would see first the oil totally penetrate the leather and then all sorts of salts, oils, etc from your skin, sweat, etc. purging out slowly. So, the leather is totally conditioned, the dirt is purged and then the surface dirt is removed from the leather and from your skin, pants, shirt etc. HTH

When I bought my Cruiser, the leather was very dirty :P. I tried a number of different cleaners on it with no luck :'(. So I thought, if waterless hand cleaner will clean my greasy hands, then it should clean dirty leather :D. I tried some MoJo Citrus Hand Cleaner, with pumice............ and it worked great :D! I was careful not to rub too hard (pumice), wiped off all residue thoroughly and vacuumed up any pumice grains left in the seams and cracks. I then conditioned with a leather conditioner used on Natuzzi furniture. I have since learned about Leatherique and now have their products :D.

B, ahh, sir, you do not put the product on yourself, you put it on your leather! ;) But, if you enjoy the extremely effective exfoliating process of a** on burlap, well, then go for it! :o Personally, I am not actually concerned with how soft the leather is, I am concerned with how long it lasts without cracking and peeling. Like I wrote, the leather on my 65 is in incredibly perfect shape. If I can keep the leather on my 97 as good for as long, I'll gladly go with the girly girl lotions. Meanwhile, good times with the burlap! :D

Another satisfied Leatherique user here.

I bought the Two 32oz bottles (oil and cleaner) for $50 PLUS $20 in shipping and handling. $70 total.

Whoa, George can do better than 20$ for S&H! I think I usually pay about six dollars for that.

HOW TO REJUVENATE YOUR LEATHER INTERIOR AND ALL ITEMS CRAFTED OF FINE LEATHER

Rejuvenating your car interior or any item made with fine quality leather is an easy process. Please carefully read directions before beginning application. Use protective gloves and eyewear.

Step 1. Vacuum the surface of the upholstered piece or interior well or use a soft brush to remove large particles of dirt, paying particular attention to seams, folds, and cracks.

Step 2. Apply the Rejuvenator Oil liberally (about 4 oz. per seat) with your hands, massaging the oil well into all the surfaces and natural folds of the leather, this puts natural ingredients, not harsh cleaner, back into the leather and forces out dirt. You may also use a soft sea sponge, or a soft paint type brush. One of our Rolls Royce friends, Chuck Hull of Simi Valley, California suggests a spray bottle that can be purchased at your local home center. Also apply the Rejuvenator Oil liberally nearer the stitched areas as the conditioner will be able to migrate laterally well into the hide. Park the car in the sun with the windows rolled up to create a "steam room" for as long as practical, several hours or a day. In cooler weather, or for long-term storage in a garage, cover the seats with plastic wrap, and "warm" with a hair dryer. Or one of our Ferrari friends, Paul Hammer, suggests covering seats with large plastic garbage bags to be able to sit in the car and move it if necessary. (Allow the oil to be absorbed into the fibrous side of the leather before putting the top down in a convertible.) Direct sun is the worst enemy of any automobile interior or home upholstery. Do not place home or office leather upholstery in direct sun. For "cardboard hard" leather, several applications will be necessary. Patience will be rewarded with good results.

Step 3. After the ph correct proteins and collagens from the Rejuvenator Oil have permeated back into the pours and fibers of the leather, strengthening and nourishing them, the surface may be tacky, sticky, gritty, or have a white haze. This is simply the dirt, grime, air pollution, perspiration, salts and other toxins that have floated out of the leather to the surface. Apply Prestine Clean by hand or with a soft Terry Cloth towel and massage out the dirt. For tough dirt or vinyl convertible tops, brush the cleaner into the grain of the leather or vinyl with a soft bath brush or toothbrush. Let stand for a few minutes, usually by the time you are done with the next piece, and rinse the surface with a soft, damp Terry Towel. Rinse Towel or soft cloth in warm, clean water. Then, after all the dirt has been removed, gently buff to a luxurious finish with a clean, dry, Terry Towel or soft cloth. Your car or upholstered leather piece will appreciate the "face lift" and will have the new leather smell restored. Prestine Clean will not remove the conditioner permeated into the leather. This process may be used on vinyl areas to soften and condition. Even flexibility on rubber window trim can be maintained with Prestine Clean.

LEATHER FACTS

We strongly advise against saddle soap, as it has been known to remove the dye from the leather. Avoid products that contain petroleum or mineral oils, as they cause leather fibers to rot prematurely. If your dye is worn away, call about our simple to use Leatherique Leather Dyes. Our cleaner and conditioner has a capillary action. The proteins, cleaners, and conditioners find their way deep into the pores of the leather and force out the dirt, perspiration, air pollution, unnecessary oils, and other toxins that destroy the fibers of the leather, destroying its strength and flexibility, and causing it to deteriorate. For tough, heavier stains, we do make a leather cleaner to remove the stain from the surface of the leather. The remainder of the stain will need to be "floated" out of the leather with Rejuvenator Oil. Badly stained surfaces probably need to be re-dyed. Call, email, or fax your specific Leather care questions to us anytime.

Key Benefits
Leather is conditioned & cleaned safely, easily, and gently. No hard scrubbing or harsh chemicals.
Because there are no petroleum or mineral oil fillers of any type in the Rejuvenator Oil, any residual remains in the fibers, continuing to nourish the leather itself for months. Don't forget keeping leather healthy and flexible is what extends its life and makes it more beautiful.
This is absolutely "Simply the Best" way to care for your leather, used by museums, collectors, restorers, decorators, and auto enthusiasts World Wide.

With a discount I'm sure we could get a bunch of people going for a group buy! See what you can do.

I'd be in for a group buy of the 32oz, even if it just saved some on the s&h. My leather needs more than lexol cleaner can do at this point, so it's worth a change to see if a different product will clean better.
