I'm disturbed. I could be dead.

I got a call from Chris today after they started my rear brake work and he told me a tie rod was broken and was amazed it hadn't fallen off and caused me to lose steering.

What's the best way to inspect tie-rods? All I noticed was a little leftward pull which I assumed was either alignment or a brake issue.

Glad I took it in. Guess God wants me around here a little longer.

The odd thing is I changed this about a year ago. I must have tweaked it a Grayrock on the Box of Possums or something.

Well you are lucky, your other Savior (Greg) came by this afternoon and I showed it to him.
The tie rod wasn't broken but the cotter key had come out letting the screw end back off.
With Greg by Country's side we made the repair and your gonna be ok on the TRE.
Actually marked the wrong key it is on the end of the tre, cant see it in this pic.

Your brakes on the other hand are toast.

Thanks Chris and Greg. Glad someones watching my back. You guys are awesome.

Greg's awesome, I'm just the player to be named later.:)

rear drums are 25 years old and have maybe a little mud and sand in them....

just a little, yeah right.:D

When we took the rear drums off it look like some kind of goulash was cooking in there with all the mud and sand. should have taken a pic.

Ih8mud.

It's really bad for your truck.

I know it's true. I don't go out of my way to ride through that stuff on purpose. The fact is I got this truck intending to use it primarily as a fishing truck to get to hard to reach spots. I believe its fullfilling its purpose. Sometimes there's mud between me and a fishing hole.

On the other hand, chances are good those brake drums are 25 years old. I've run them hard for 3 years before I had problems.

Depends on your per$pective. Thanks for the tie rod help.

Heading out in the direction of 49 tire anytime today?

when I was in Grade School in Mexico they called the chocolate pudding in the cafeteria Mississippi Mud.

Now I understand.

Fixed it for ya.
