Well the unthinkable has happened, the big blue beast needs repaired.

My inner asle seal has sprung a leak. I am guessing that I need to do a knuckle rebuild while I am at it, since it will be apart. I am thinking of tackling this job myself, ordering parts from Cdan. Has anyone done this? Advice is great.

Is there anyone local that does this job? Any ideas on how much it would be? (guess I am still up in the air)

From what I have read it seems to be time consuming but not to difficult.

Thanks in advance,

Anthony

Not difficult at all
where are you located at?
do you have the space?
do you have the tools?
if you need help let me know.

Live in Forest Hills, 3 lights off the Parkway East.

I have the majority of the tools, not a good snap ring tool, 54 mm socket/wrench or seal pusher fitter tool. I think I have most everything else.

I have a garage, but it is narrow, so working in it is a bit of a pain.

I would graciously accept help, and buy beer :beer:and food :banana:too. (good beer and good food)

LBS-

I'm in the same boat as you. Need to do the front axle rebuild. I'm up in Beaver.

Right now I have a PM in to cdan for a quote on the rebuild kit. No word, yet.

I've dug into the front end as far as the bearings about 2 years ago.

I think the only tools I don't have are brass hammer, seal puller, and torque wrench.

Let me know if there is something I can do to help out.

Little blue
I live in level green
I can help out but not until the plant comes out of outage.
That would be the first weekend in november.

Not a bad idea Zimm!!
I can store all the empty bear cans and pizza boxes out back.

Just got done doing my 60. Marlin has a great kit available with better seals than stock. The kit was around $175 for everything. Brass hammer and brass drift really helped out. The hardest part was cleaning everything up. Buy plenty of rags and use a little diesel fuel to help with the degreasing.

Thanks to all that reponded. I did the rebuild yesterday. It was definitely a :banana::banana: job. I thought it was going to be easier than it was, but regardless it is done. Well almost....

The play that I had on the drivers side turned out to a trashed hub assembly. The end cap is fine but the next piece was pretty much a basket case. So I put her back together without it for now. Which brings me to my next question, anyone have an extra hub laying around that they want to part with? Let me know.

I'm Philadelphia and I am in the same boat! Need a rebuild with adult supervision!
