Infinity REF-6522EX in my front doors on my LX and they fit just fine behind the factory grill. I think i used cardboard as a slight spacer. I have Infinity REF6522IX 6.5" in the back door. no amp just alpine headunit... they woke up one day (after about a week) and really started to sounding very good. Back door speakers required some sawzall work...

I really wanted to try to Alpine SPS610c in as i have those in my taco and they sound great!

Sounds like you had better luck than me. My door panels wouldn't clip back on with the Infinitys.

I don't remember doing anything special for the front. I know I put some double sided padded tape on the magnets as those were touching or very close to touching the window track. It is possible that I trimmed something from the back of the factory speaker cover, but I don't recall. For the rears I used a 1inch spacer that I made as those definitely didn't fit. The magnet along was big enough that cutting was needed.

I called Crutchfield and they recommended these for drop-in speakers on my LX 450:

Infinity Reference REF-6532ex

He said I'd have to splice the wiring, but it'd fit perfectly without modification. True?

Just so you know, when I did my speakers, I used an adapter harness I got from Crutchfield and I believe it was a Metra harness. I didn’t have to do any splicing.
