Hey All!
It's once again time to replace the saggy worn out leaf springs on my Fj-55 again. After considering the price these little gems are going for on the aftermarket  I am now looking for a junk yard donor option. Has anyone found a good spring out there that will be a little stiffer and maybe a 2" lift from the stock hight and rough-fully the same length as the rear springs?

At this time I am running rear Man-a-Fre lifted springs up front to compensate for the big block motor, and Stock hight springs in the back to adjust for the chopped and tubbed back side. Which has given the short bus a good even hight so far except for the now apparent 2 inches of sagging.

Any knowledge that you guys might have on this subject would be very helpfully to me.

Cheers:grinpimp:

I have a set of 55 rear spings I might be talked into selling. If you are willing to do a little welding to move your spring mount the sky is the limit. One thought is rear leaf springs from a newer ford F 250.

Thanks for the info so far! I don't mind cutting and moving mounts around to get something to work, but I am hoping to be able to re-use the U-bolts, spring pads, and such. With the way things are now I am trying to keep the cost down by using Recycled parts(junkyard gold) so that I can still enjoy wrenching on the pig!

Size wise are the F-250 springs about the same? Also I thought I heard something a while back about using J&&p Cherokee springs? was that for the 55's or the 40's?

IIRC the 60 series front spring is about the same length as the 55 rears. Search on this forum for 60 series springs.

Well I guess this shoots the f-250 springs down then. I believe they are wider than 55 springs.

Have you considered the 3/4 ton Chevy "63" inch springs?

In FJ60s at least it's a good match for a bit of lift and increased load carrying capacity.

CaliCruiser did a good write up on this somewhere if you search. The same shoudl apply to FJ55s.
