Well, it’s rainy here in Florida, so I can take the flaming that is about to come.:)

I’m installing an ARB RD90 into the IFS on an ’86 4Runner. (I know swapping to a solid axle is the only way to go, but it’s not the way the owner wanted to go.)

The problem: the RD90 has 50MM diameter carrier shafts; the original IFS carrier has 45MM shafts. The RD90 comes with one new bearing that is used on the side where the air collar fits. The other side has to be supplied by the builder, me. The problem is there is no reference to the 50MM bearing number. I have sent an E-mail to ARB (today Sunday) requesting a part number, but to cover all bases, I’m asking here also.

Anyone have the part number for the 50MM bearing for the ’86 IFS 7.5 inch ARB RD90 carrier???

Thanks,
Jerry D.

The bearing supplied with the ARB is about 74MM outside diameter of the race and narrower that the other bearing (and even the original ones) as it has to share space with the air collar and still have the original bearing cap cover them. The other side, the one I’m looking for, is about 80MM outside diameter including the race.

I have searched both MUD and Pirate, but haven’t found the information yet. But I am still searching and Googling.

Thanks,
Jerry D.

Just a quick follow up on the IFS ARB RD90 install on the ’86 4Runner.

The second bearing, 50MM ID one, is the same one used on most Land Cruisers with the 50MM carrier. It’s a 32010X number. And just for a note, the other bearing (supplied by ARB) that is used in conjunction with the air actuator collar is Timken LM503349, it’s a 45MM ID bearing.

All works well on the bench, now to see how Murphy will visit during putting things back onto the truck.

Thanks for the inputs,

Jerry D.

Thinking of doing the same thing.

Do post an install update and first impressions.

Not really the same problem, but still aling the same alley...

I'm installing the RD90 right now on my 1997 Prado (kzj95). I ran into a problem too, on one side the original bearing is supposed to be reused, and on the other side ARB has supplied a new bearing. My problem is that the new bearing is about 75 (maybe 74 mm) outside diameter, 46 mm inside and pretty narrow. The original bearings were 80 mm outside diameter, so now I'm kinda stuck and need to find the right bearing.

ARB dealer here in norway had never encountered this, and found no notes anywhere that this might be an issue.

Am I the only one?

Sadly, you are the only one posting this question on the board for Toyota pickups.
I think you'll find better answers here: 90-Series Tech
the Prado board.
I think you may have confused "1979-1995 Tech" to mean "Tech that applies to 79-95 series trucks". I'm certain that more people in Prado Land will be able to field your question better.
Good luck!
