Importing a "New" LC from Costa Rica, educate me please..> (1 Viewer)

Hi All, my brother bought a house in costa rica. he goes there 5-6 times a year for 2 week vacations. He rents out his house in airbnb.

Quick questions. He is a USA resident born and raised New Yorker. Is it possible for him to buy a land cruiser in costa rica, keep it at his house, use it for the next year or so and the million $$ question.

Would he be able to bring it back to USA (new york) at anytime?
I searchedf the net and its so confusing. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Thanks!

Not really legally, no.

A US Citizen with foreign residency or foreign employment, owning a vehicle registered and titled in that country can do a temporary import but the vehicle would need to arrive and leave with the owner. That doesn't apply here but if you retired to Costa Rica and wanted to do the Pan American that is possible.
