I put the solid wire in the welder and turned on the gas.

It makes for much nicer welds.

A couple more patches and that's enough for the day.

The last pic is of all the pieces I cut out and replaced.

So tonight I put a thin layer of fill on the patches and sprayed on some primer.

Before I put the colour on I'll put some spot putty on to fill in voids in the filler.

It looks pretty original if I do say so myself. I'm pleased with the results so far, but the colour will bring out any flaws in my work.

Like I said before, it's not a concourse restoration.

There are a few inches of the lip that I will replace as well before I put on the cygnus white.

While I have your attention, please note the sorry state of the windshield frame. Repair may be beyond my capability.

A mudder from WI has one for for sale in reasonable condition, but shipping logistics will be a pain. Does anyone have a frame for sale that is a little closer for shipping?

When can I bring my roof over. I'll just take yours and you can fix mine :D

Well...I'm kind a' busy right now, but you can have my left over cygnus white paint. I'll get a liter and I'm sure that will do several roofs and bezels.

I e-mailed that guy in Sask but I don't think that is a front window frame in his pics. I'm not sure what it is, but it doesn't look like a window frame.

OK. I finally got to spray the cygnus white and I must say, is it really supposed to be this yellow?

Other than the colour, I'm quite pleased with the results.

I put a bead of seam sealer in the gutter and smoother it down with my finger, leaving a thin layer that rounds up onto the outer lip and into the roof itself. I did this before I sprayed the colour.

Here are some pics of the truck that made me buy mine. It's pretty white...ish. Hard to judge colors just looking at pics on the monitor. I don't know for sure if this rebuild is done with cygnus white or not but he does restoration as a big part of his operation so I would expect it is. I realize the rest of the truck is not exactly original but it is a stock Toyota color.

Yeah, I know it is hard to determine the real colour on a monitor screen.

It came to me this morning while I was making breakfast, my roof is the colour of buttermilk pancake mix. The Aunt Jamima brand.
