So like the title say my idle in my 86 toyota pickup(22re), is very inconsistant. When cold its not bad, upon first start it idles at like 800, then until warm itll be like 900-1300, but once its warm its usually around 1400-1700 and sometimes close to 2000. Its not an omg gotta fix now issue, but its rather annoying. Ideas?

Check the coolant level, timing, idle air speed....

Yeah what he said.

Coolant i know is fine, hasnt gone down a drop since i bought the truck. Ill need to find a working timing light to check timing. How would i check the idle air speed?

You need something that will tell you RPM's and you check it with the engine at operating temp and the diagnositic connector jumpered.

Described here.....
1993 Toyota Pickup Service Manual

Didn't find the section I was looking for but look though....it should be about 750 RPM +-50
