Idle at start up

Is it normal at a cold start up for the idle to be over a 1000rpm?
As it warms up it goes down to around 700rpm
Additionally when air conditioning compressor kicks in the idle jumps up a bit

Any words of wisdom?

Its normal, mine is the same way...

Mine is the same. Idles at ~1500 then slowly calms down to ~700+/-

Same. As a matter of fact any Japanese made vehicle I've owned(Subaru/Toyota/Honda) have always acted similarly during a cold start condition.
