Identify this part!

1995 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Limited 3.0 V6

This is on the back of the engine. It sticks straight up and there is a port that goes to a small hose to the charcoal canister on the passenger side of the truck.

The top port is broken off which appeared to point to the passenger side. The smog guy said it the fuel evap return valve, or something along those lines. I'm looking for a name and a part number if possible. I'm selling the rig to a buddy and it's the only thing that won't allow it to pass smog. I hate smog and visual inspections!

Don't worry about the thing on the left with the warning label on it, that's an LED inspection flashlight. I had to light things up to get a decent picture.

I hope someone can identify this thing, I'm heading to TAP tomorrow in Rancho Cordova to see if they can pull one of these things for me and it would be nice to have the official name. It's a tight fit, but I should be able to pop the old guy off and drop the new one in and get this situation fixed!

That would be a bimetallic vacuum switching valve, part number 23262 or 23263 and do not waste your time getting a used one because it will break as when they age over 7 years the plastic becomes fragile.

Get yourself a new one from the dealership, and also a PITA (Pain in the @$$) hose (the u-shaped one there), along with a intake plenum gasket set. Pull the plenum and take care of switching out both at the same time so you don't have to worry again about them for years to come. *Go ahead and also flush the coolant system if that hose hasn't been recently changed, your engine will love you for it.

Thanks, the hose was switched out about two years ago, and I only need to swap out the broken part. Everything else is tight. Thanks!

I sprung a leak on that water hose within fixing range and messing with it I popped one...

Just changed mine last month. PITA, bought a cheap deep socket, cut a 1/2" wide slot almost the length of the socket w a cut off wheel. Use an long extension and wratchet. works well....
