hey guys,
I am heading up to the saint helena, angwin, calistoga area in the middle of July.
does anyone know areas to wheel?
moderate things for a stock nonlocked cruiser.
any help would be nice.

oh yeah heading to mammoth for some fishing in the beginning of July.
can someone tell my how to get to green creek and dynamo pond from the mammoth lakes area.
any wheeling adventure there as well?
thanks

thanks for the recc.-just looked up mt. diablo looks a bit further than I wanted to drive.
i went to school in angwin and when i was in undergrad there was a 4wheeling club, but I had no truck to drive. i did tag along on a howell mt. run but i think that was private land.

a bit hard to make it work, since we are there for just a weekend. my cousin is getting married so the entire weekend is filled with some sort of activities.
I just remember the angwin area had some dirt roads-there is conn damn and lake berryesa but I don't think there is wheeling there.

thanks for the reality check guys.
thanks for the responses.

Hey we were just there on Memorial Day Weekend.... Beautiful place, but if you plan on fishing it, don't expect anything big... We just caught a couple of small sized browns. 7"ers.... Anyway we went the way of coming south on 395 from Bridgeport (about 5 miles south) and made a right (West) at Green Creek Rd. Follow the dirt road about 5 miles and watch the signs. You'll make another sharp right to Green Creek and Dynamo Pond.... If the fishing isn't what your looking for continue south on the main dirt road and follow it out to Virginia Lakes. About another 10 miles (with awesome views) to main Virginia Lakes Road.

But if you want to wheel anywhere around Mammoth area the only thing I can really think of is Laurel Lakes. Just south of Mammoth... nothing hardcore, but some switchbacks and some mild off camber stuff... Here is a link I was able to find... The Sierra's has lots of backroads to explore, but nothing I would consider hardcore... Have fun! We're going back at the end of July.

thanks for the driving info to green creek.
yup, finally drove it all the way to laurel lakes last year, attempted a few years back and that narrow road with the shelf made my wife and kids nervous. returned last year with a few of the buddies and left the wife and kids at the condo, but after doing it, I think I will take the entire family.
my avatar is laurel lakes!

how long did you stay at green creek/dynamo ponds? we love virgina, I think we need to try trumbull too this year.
