My very old 22R finally gave it up this weekend. I have been doing some research for places that sell rebuilt 22R's. I found a place in Washington, SunWest Automotive, that looks like do very good work. Does anybody on here know of any other places?

dude, you can find a 22R easier than you can get an egg from a hen

try TAP Recycling (800) 765-7100

look in the yellow pages under auto wrecking.

portland, OR has a million frickkin wrecking yards. most are on Columbia BLVD. check the portland yellow pages.

Yeah, I know of TAP and they sell crap. I have found other place but I was wanting to know peoples experiences.

I'm looking for a longblock too, $1100. looks like the going rate as I've called around a lot ( from the yellow pages) -yes the trick is to find a reputable place that can be trusted.

After doing a lot of research regarding TAP I have found that engines they often sell are just within minimum specs. Might be good for most but not for me. I have known people to buy from them and they weren't satisfied. End discussion on them.

To be honest there are like 100 different people to buy motors from, some are good some are not. Some use good parts, some use cheap stuff. Look at some engines that are $1600 and some are $900. There has to be a difference between the two. Before I spend a grand I want to know what quality of engine I am going to get and know other people experiences. My truck has a ATK and it is over $1600 for a motor and it is a nice engine. I thnk he is looking for people that have experience with a certain engine.

Fresno TAP sold my neighbor a used engine with 80k miles out of a rolled 4-runner with a 1 year warranty. He paid some one too have it installed. The #1 rod blew out the side of the motor in less than a month. Fresno TAP gave him 100% of his purchase price back towards another used motot or a rebuilt motor with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.

No questions asked. They just looked at the heat seal on the back of the engine too make sure it was not overheated.

I have had nothing but good experiences with them.

Sorry if you have heard of some one who has a bad experience with them.

They did have different levels of rebuilds to buy.
