116 degrees today drove 100 series for about an hour, traffic etc. parked in garage for about an hour and when I left garage had a very strong gasoline smell. I'm new to this Las Vegas heat and I've noticed walking through parking lots I can smell gasoline in this heat that when the heat is just in the high 90's I don't smell the gas in the garage and parking lot. I even opened the hood of my car could not smell gas, guess its venting out of the gas tank. Anyone else experience this when the temps get this hot? Any dangers??

My 100 does this at higher elevation and in 100+ heat like in Vegas. It was doing it last month when the temps were 105 there. On the older trucks the charcoal canister is up front, and more prone to you smelling it while driving or if you open the hood. The newer ones it's in the back above the spare. I'm pretty sure it happens to a lot of people, including spressomon. Although pretty much everything goes some way other than normal on his truck.

I'm over on the 80's board but check this one because we are in the market for a 100. We have had this same issue on hot days (running AC). I notice it more if I top off when filling the tank. Now, if I fill up and it clicks off when full I stop (no more topping off). This has helped some. There are posts that the charcoal cannister becomes saturated with gas when doing this in the 80's. I also flushed my cooling system to make sure I was cooling properly. Hope this helps...

Yep...been dealing with it for a while during high temps and major elevation changes.

Same..... I've been saying I was going to swap the charcoal canister and see if that fixes it, but at $300, it's a heavy duty gamble.

I was hoping someone else would have tried it.

This happened to my 80 however it was year round and not only during the hot summer days. A new gas cap fixed it.

bdac,

Thanks for the tip... I will replace mine as well...

I was driving around in the valley and live at about 2k feet above the valley.
