If your two batteries are producing 12volts each (check them individually), and the lead connecting them is going from positive on the forward battery to negative on the rear battery...you can;t have just 12 volts...it goes against the laws of physics.

I think you may have your batteries installed wrong. From the bumper back, negative post (to ground) on body, positive post connceted to negative post on next battery, positive post on 2nd battery to wiring harness etc. There are a few fuses right there, connected to the positive post. They look like cylinders or connectors.

That's where I was headed! I concur with you Moose.

Well guys.... Its finished.. I think!!.. After a friend of mine that came by and showed me how to get 24V.. Looks like I put the battery in different, but the cables where they were. Primed the old filter and I was off like a rocket... Took it for a long haul and runs great again.. Tomorrow I will get a new fuel filter and put that on and hopefully everything is fixed. My friend was rather surprised on how much the engine reminded him of his old tractors he had on the farm.. and we got the winch clutch freed up so I can pull out the cable now.. So a great thank you to everyone on here for the help.. This board is well worth it.. I will watch for algae but I think it was just jelled I added some conditioner tonight..

I would recommend changing all your battery cables. You might have green cheese growing in the cable and under loaod it will give no power. With no load and your ohm meter it might show ok.
Also run extra grounds to the frame and the engine directly from the battery.

Its in the garage warming..

What was the temp outside when you had your problem Stiffler? Both your's and skinny's both went in the garage and the problem seems to have gone away...

Fuel gelling?

Perhaps consider running an anti gel conditioner...

The sedimenter on the BJ42 and BJ60 is along the framerail. Follow the line out of the fuel tank, and about 1/2 to the front you will find the sedimenter. Should be a 10mm bolt on the bottom. Undo and drain into a clear container so you can see the result.

it was -8*C with no conditioner in the tank.. I ran up -20*C with no conditioner in my 2000 VWJetta this year.. So i thought I was good The Jetta has a return line that sends heated diesel from the engine back into the tank does a BJ have that?. I will look for the Sedimentor tonight when I get home from work.

BJ doesn't have a fuel return line to the tank. If you have gelling problems you can add a liter or two of kerosene as well to free things up.

Well I checked the sediment bowl (Has a good dent in it) and nothing but Diesel in it no water whatsoever.. But no Algae aswell. So maybe it was just Gelling? I hope!
Thanks
