Take it to the dealer body shop for an estimate before the adjuster gets a swing at it. Then when he comes in lower show him the estimate and he'll cut you a check for the actual amount.

It will be very hard to get paid for adjuster oversights if you decide to upgrade (Slee it) but getting paid directly by the insurer is a good deal. Now you can take it to anyone you choose.

I'm getting two estimates from tomorrow before the adjuster comes out:D

You should have your insurance company send out and adjuster prior to hers coming out. Or maybe on the same day so you can make sure you dont get screwed. They might under estimate it, cut the check then your bodyshop will need more...and her insurance company wont pay it. Then it will just be a pain in the ass to deal with.

This is why I had my insurance company pay ME up front for the repairs, then they went after the guy-at-fault's insurance company for reimbursement. Also, if the cost runs over, the body shop will get approval from your insurance company (they'll say yes since the other guy is at fault and will pay), have the work done, then your insurance company will get its money back from the other guy's insurance company. This way, your insurance company (a team of lawyers) is batting on your side! Otherwise, if you let the other guy's insurance company cut you a check and you have to scrounge for the money due to cost overruns, you might have to hire your own lawyer to get all the money reimbursed or get screwed since your insurance company is completely out of the picture!!

Yeah i can see what you mean. When my LX got hit, the other lady had the same insurance as me. State Farm. Well turns out the body shop i go to is certified by state farm as an adjuster, so he just dealt with everything for me and i got my truck back 3 weeks later.

Did the insurance company pay for a rental SUV for you to drive while your rig was being fixed?

nope. I couldnt complain, i was just driving the 911 Carrera 4 we had instead. It was just as good in the snow. LoL

See that's not right. You should of had them pay for you to rent a highline SUV until your ride was fixed. Doesn't matter if you had another vehicle, they need to pay for the problem.

I dont really see the problem. I mean, I COULD have asked them to get me a rental and they would have most likely gotten one no problem. However who really wants to pass up driving a Porsche 911 for a month? Heck, even in snow storms i would take the 911 out for fun in the snow.

Now that the 911 is sold, if i do get hit again, im most likely going to request the insurance go through the lexus dealership, which will then send it to the same bodyshop I would go to normally, but will give me a loaner.
