Well after borrowing my Dad's Duramax for every Crawl, Round Up or other ride I decided to get my own tow rig.
I thought about a new 2500 Chevy truck but Greg didn't like that because he couldn't crawl in the back of the truck and get in the Yeti cooler as we sped down 20.
We have had Suburbans for 10 years and liked the room so I started looking for a diesel Excursion.
I have looked at alot of X's since Christmas. Ford quit putting the amazing 7.3 Power Stroke in them mid year of 2003 and went to the infamous 6.0 for the latter part of 03 thru 2005 when they quit making the X.
I was focused on a 05 with 76k in Wake Forest, NC but couldn't put the deal together.
I then found this one.
Early 2003 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 with 94k on it. Jes' unicorn.
I picked it up in Knoxville, TN. I flew up to Nashville and stayed with Clutchee and Ashley Friday night and then they took me on up to Knoxville to get it.
Going to get it in the shop tomorrow to actual see what I have bought. It is very clean and drove great.
498 miles in 7 hours, got 13.65 mpg with a adv travel speed of 72.5 mph.
It has a 44 gallon tank, still had a 1/4 tank of diesel when I got to the house.
I plan on a set of 28575-16 Bridgestone Revo AT.
Trailer brake controller

replace all fluids and filters
Firestone air bags for rear
