I bought a 2026 Sequoia - thoughts v my 200

I have a 2019 LC 200. I have owned (this is random but 6 200s) a 200 since 2009. I love my truck.

Build Thread '"Heritage" creation build'

I wanted to wait until this was done to post. @Eric Sarjeant just created what I will call a Heritage Edition+ for me.

He took a regular LC base with black interior and did the following:

• Added Heritage grill
• Had headlights blackened like Heritage edition
• Took OEM FJ40 emblem (identical to Heritage but required a lot of work) and added to D pillar.
• Removed door chrome strips, filled holes, and painted.
• Powder coated Heritage wheels matte silver and painted Heritage center caps silver.

I have a new 2026 Sequoia Limited coming from @Eric Sarjeant at Ed Martin Toyota.

We went with a bench seat. Did the Goose Gear platform and 3rd row delete. Nightshade package. Swapped a TRD pro grill and swapped the center caps on the wheels for TOYOTA instead of sombreros.

Added Toyo Open Country AT3 285/60/R20.

I’ve been on this forum for a long time. I am usually in the 200 section (I drive a 200) or the 60 section.

This will be my wife’s truck. Supposedly.

I wanted to sort of give some thoughts about things since I have probably as much experience as anyone on here with 200s and just now getting to know the Sequoia. First, I understand there have been no real problems with any of the new engines manufactured after 2024. I was confident to get the Sequoia.

It is huge. Makes the 200 feel small. It is super powerful. Tows way better and has much more get up and go than the 200. Does NOT get any better gas mileage in my experience which is hilarious. Toyota claims combined 22 or something and I get 12.1.

I have the Sequoia limited and it's definitely not as nice inside as the LC. Finish is not as nice. Speakers and stereo not as nice. Everything feels almost like American dudes assembled it instead of it being built in Japan. That being said, it is nice to have some new tech and a huge screen and not have a rigged CarPlay etc like I have on my 200.

I feel like the Sequoia is as close as you can get to a 200 now new. I would def recommend it, but it's not an LC. My two cents FWIW.

When I bought my 200 in 2016 I cross-shopped a Sequoia. It felt cavernous inside, and made of cheaper materials. Sounds like that hasn’t changed, and I’m not entirely surprised. IMO it’s in competition with the Tahoe and Expedition, so that tracks

How's the rear cargo area compared to the 200? I cross shopped the two, but never spent a lot of time figuring out the cargo area. I've read that it's hard to get it set up to a flat floor, and the dimensions posted online didn't appear to be all that much bigger than the 200.

If you want these things at a fit and finish / build quality equivalent to the 200 your only option is an LX 700H and looks like for your use case an Overtrail 2 row would have been the right option. Is it expensive? Yes, and there is a reason for it. Same as the 200 was (is).
