I own a 1990 HZJ77 and my push button hub locks stopped working.I'd like to locate a wiring diagram for this truck, and any tips or info on trouble shooting this problem would be Great.
Thanks
Ken

99% of the time , it will be the little carbon brush's that are in the main freewheel hubs, that are broken off there springs.
When a mechanic do's a bearing job, they don't know that the carbons have to be held back with a wire [ gas tip cleaner do's the trick].once the hub is fitted, the wire is then removed.
Also don't put any grease on the copper slip ring.
Do a check with a meter, by putting it across the two copper rings on the alli slip ring, one copper ring is + the other is -
Turn on Key, push Hub lock button, light on meter should light up for about 3 seconds, when button is pressed or released.

Switch to manual hubs and never worry again....

These carbon pieces where can you get them. They look like carbon and copper mix brush material. Do you have to buy the whole hub?

Toyota don't make seperate parts for the hubs, but you can buy a new hub for approx$600.00, each.

I have made new brush's out of a starter motor brush, cut it with a small hobby hacksaw, to the shape then with a little triangle file, put two grooves into it, you need plenty of time to do this.
