The little orange oil light has appeared. Brand new engine, 2001 model from a hzj105 cruiser swapped out with my old sump for the turbo line and the oil level sensor. Since the swap the light hasn't gone away, first few times scared fxxx out of me and turned it off straight away but there's no leaks at all and the engines now done 500kms with a service, oil level is perfect yet the light is still on. Will be checking the 12v wire wire running to the sump soon, just have a feeling that power will be getting to the wire, any one know how to check the sensor itself?

Get ready for new sensor;) They aint cheap. Other toyota diesels of the same years use the same sensor but Im not sure if the bolt pattern is the same.

NOTE the 1HZ has 2 different sensors, well actually the same sensor but different bolt pattern.

Any idea of a rough price? And is there any way to actually check if the sensors buggered like resistance tests or anything? Will give the connections a real good clean out before I commit to a new one

Where's the location of oil sensor?

Ok so an update, I know I have oil. The light comes on roughly 20 seconds after start up, during those 20 seconds if driven over bumps the timing belt light, battery red light and oil light all flicker on/off (short in the system) then the oil light stays permanently on but the other 2 remain to flicker. Sounds like I need to do some major rewiring work so I need to know where I can find the harness location of each wires, any ideas?

I was having similar issues ( my fuel and water temp. gauges would go nuts on occasion ). Corrected the grounding issue and all is well now.

About $250 in oz .Are your dash fascia contacts in good condition?

Fixed the grounding issue, no lights flickering but the lights staying on. My mates is doing it too, coincidence we both just did engine swaps then this started to both of us? Is there a reset procedure anyone knows of?

Perhaps the oil sensor unit is linked to the computer chip on hzj105. Try pm ZOLTAN, he also swapped in 105series engine into his 75 ute. Check whether he faced the same problem.
