HZJ73 Blinking 4WD dash light (1 Viewer)

It has the factory electronic locking hubs and no diff lockers, the only controls are the H4 button near the ignition and the H-L transfer case lever. I’m assuming the H4 button also locks the hubs.

What’s odd is that even when the H4 button is not pressed in, the dash will sometimes blink the 4WD light and sometimes it doesn’t.

Has anyone experienced this before?

So, your H4 button is operating normally: 4WD really engages, hubs lock, green 4WD indicator light comes on and stays on?
(You can test that by trying to spin the front driveshaft manually. With 4WD and locks disengaged it spins free. 4WD engaged you can't move it by hand)
If so, the fault may be the indicator light switch. It sits on the right hand side on the tranny, way up. Has a few inch of cable and a connector to the harness then.
That thing is quite exposed. Any bad insulation my cause it to bridge and cause the light to occasionally come on.
Also the switch itself may be bad.
