I know this is an older thread, but since its been reopened I think I know what happened.

Its been shown (in many posts:p) that you can stall an auto, if the weight of the truck overcomes the torque converter in the auto box and the engine is turned backwards

I reckon what happened to NLX is purely down to no CDL. Once the truck starts to lose traction on the driving wheel, the weight of the truck starts to roll back down the slope. As soon as the driving wheel get traction again (lifting off the gas), the drivetrain acts against the motion of the engine and gearbox causing a stall.
Toyota brakes are crummy in reverse and having ABS on ain't going to help either.

I reckon if you go back and do it again with the CDL on it will be fine.:steer:
