Well, after a long shot and a half I ended up going up to NJ today to pick up the 45 tub that Al had graciously offered up for free on here.

Now I don't really have any money to send Al to reimburse him, but I feel I must do something for him as I am just truly blown away by his generosity in offering this to the 'mud community for free. I could hear the sadness in his voice when I called him today to tell him I had successfully picked it up. Made me feel a bit guilty even though it was offered for free.

Any ideas?

I haven't had a chance to really dig into it yet, but it appears the previous owner did some minor patch work with some sheetmetal and some boogerwelds on the passenger side(left) floorboard. There's also some bondo where the tub meets the hardtop on that side, with what looks like rust underneath from the inside. All in all, I'd say it's pretty minor though. I'm searching now for a place to get it sand blasted or chem stripped so I can have a better understanding of what I'm working with.

buy him a surfboard!

Haha, surfboards cost as much as he paid for this tub! ;)

BTW, turns out there's a lot more rust than I thought. Got it turned up on end this morning and the entire passenger side(left) floorboard is rusted through and being covered up by fiberglass.

So far it looks like the outer skin is still very solid though.

If the hurricane season keeps up like it is he might need a life jacket down in Florida!!

hmmmmm, guess that's what I get for being stuck in the carib due to a hurricane. maybe the neworleans boys will buy me a tub.
