How to remove transmission inspection plate

‘81 BJ42 13B with stock transmission

I need to remove the inspection plate to assess the clutch. I removed the two bolts but it didn’t come off. I put the bolts back temporarily. I don’t want to damage something by prying on it or trying to force it. What is the next step for removing it?

Remove the gearbox!

Oh, darn. Maybe I can view something though that hole without removing it.
