That is really awesome to see. How did the defroster grid hold up? Is it squeaky clean now?

Awesome, thanks for the update.. looks great! Any tips on the process? Did the cleaner react with the actual glass at all (hazyness, etc.)?

Boom. Awesome to see it worked for someone else!

The defroster looks ok but I will need to test.
I also ordered an extra clear rear glass from Cruiser Parts so I will check the difference and use the best one.

The cleaner did not affect the glass as far as I can tell. I will windex it tomorrow and check.

I may try the acid on the side back glass to see if it works there too since I am replacing them with new clear glass anyway...

I didn't try the sliders... Only the door glass that frosted for me.

@AMMO -- Did you remove the aftermarket tint before you applied the acid cleaner?

I didn't have aftermarket tint till I had clear glass.

Ok. I'll try on my side glass and let you guys know

The frosting on the side glass wasn't from the acid on the glass, it was the tint reaction to the acid I believe...

Hydrofluoric acid was the key ingredient.

Just a comment on hydrofluoric (HF) acid - If anyone here decides to try this, please read a MSDS on it, or at least poke around internet, bottom line it's serious Ju-Ju (coming from a guy who has worked in a sulfuric acid refinery & been a oil refinery operator)

http://www.bt.cdc.gov/agent/hydrofluoricacid/basics/facts.asp

I'm fairly cautious in the refinery, and to me the HF is a solid 7-8, Sulfuric acid is maybe a 3-4 based on how each type acts/reacts to the body.
HF acid is being phased out of the USA, no more new construction HF refineries are permitted & the operating ones have a buffer & chainlink fence perimeter.
It may be available at consumer strengths, but we all know people get ahold of weird stuff - I was 14yo with a 8# block of elemental sodium/NA (fun in water).

If anyone here can get it, and you decide to dilute with water, please remember:

Add acid to water, NEVER ADD WATER TO ACID (reactivity/heat generated)

@citadel Did you get a chance to wipe it down and take a good look at your rear glass? Will you be going with your original or Cruiser parts glass?

I havent received the clear glass from Cruiser Parts yet so I haven't compared the two. I did clean up my current rear glass and it is fine.

Picks of the rear hatch clear glass from Cruiser Parts....

The original one that you cleaned up looks better than the Cruiser Parts one in the pictures! Though the CP might just need some cleaning. It also looks like the CP one is very slightly tinted compared to your original.

Curious as to whether this worked for you on the side glass?

I didn't try the side glass and instead just bought new clear glass from Toyota
