Unless you have a shackle at both ends of the leaf spring.. then it does work ;)

I have not heard of it. But anything is possible. ;)

It would be problematic to do. The frame is wider in the rear so you would have to mount them inboard of the frame. You'd wind up mounting your shocks more vertically because there still would not be room to mount them outboard of the springs. Body roll would be increased.

A fai bit of work (maybe a LOT of work) for minmal gains.

The approach I mentioned earlier - longer springs and a buggy leaf - would give you a lot more bang for a lot less buck. I have not see it under a '60 but have seen it (and doneit) under 4runners and mini-trucks, and the setup would be virtually identical under a '60.
