How To: Adjust or Advance Timing

Ah ok thank you. For some reason I’ve always had it in my head you’d want to advance the ignition firing to to be at or just after top dead center when it’s at full compression…not when the piston is even further away from the cylinder head.

Advance, aka move it forward, to happen sooner.
Retard, aka delay it, to happen later.
