what exactly is the point of having a *swivel* mount besides a ring+shackle?

Minimizes the friction involved. The cable or strap doesn't have to slip around on the ring -- the swivel does it all.

I would love to, but the last few times i hit Boeing they didn't have any and now its just to hard for me to get up their anymore.

now I might have a few stashed someplace, in the 7500lb rating....

also I have a 78 fj55 with a pair on the ass end, if you buy the 55(for $1300) it will come with the rings
