It currently has the stock front axle - but it is going to 60 outers with the knuckle swap. Did the inner axles have a different spline count as well?

Just found out today that the front end doesn't have a diff cover...so I'm not sure how to disconnect the axles from the dif - further research necessary!

They simply slide out once the knuckles are apart. There is a flat spot on the Birfield joint which allows the unit to slide out and you'll have to line that up with the bump in the housing. The rear semi floater has clips but neither the rear full floater nor the front axle have them; that's what makes them 'full floater'.

Yes, the inner axle spline count is different too, so long as I'm right about '75 having the larger spline....I think I'm right.....it's in my head somewhere....but maybe that's lack of sleep, not sure.

Got it, I thought they were clipped in at the diff like the rear. Makes sense now!

75 would have a coarse spline pinion like my 77. FJ62s had fine spline 4.11s. 75 still had coarse spline birfields. Inner axle spline count should be the same. Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD at 85mph in an FJ40
