How much paint?

I tried searching this but only had luck in the paint section so I wanted ask here. I'm not ready to paint but would like to know how much I can figure on painting my 55. I guess I will go with cygnus white and freeborn red and after seeing all the beauts in our section (K9Crazy et al) I want to get an idea of how much paint is necessary for a typical paint job. depends on alot of variables...

are you painting the engine compartment?
are you doing the door jambs?
are you painting the interior? (not that there is much to paint but none the less)
are you planning on painting the entire truck white then adding the red? some folks do it this way, as did the factory in some years?

Is you gun efficient? cheap guns tend to fan out alot more paint than expensive ones, resulting in paint that doesnt make it to the surface.

My guess, if you you answer yes to the above questions, and have a cheaper paint gun, would be that you need a gallon of white, and probably 3 qts of red. thats unmixed..

Thanks Brett--I failed to mention that I wouldn't do the engine comp and interior. I had figured a gallon but you set me straight on a good figure with the white and 3 qts of red. I won't be doing the painting (no facilities) and I'm not ready to do anything but just wanted to have an idea. Thanks so much--Dave
