Alright, regardless of whether they are plastic or metal it seems tha everyone has at least one of these Jerry Cans. I know how many I amd getting but I ask you, How many do you have? is it just one incase you dont get to the next truck stop or do you have twenty just in case the Russians really do invade and take over your local school. tell us your experience of what the optimum number is for what you do.

I have two. 10 gallons (two 5-gallon cans) will usually get you to a gas station if necessary. When I was at Big Bend National Park last month, we camped in places that were 50 + miles from the nearest gas station. Creeping down rough roads (sometimes in 4-low), towing a trailer, and stopping every 20 minutes to grab a beer can hurt fuel economy big time. I can only imagine what it would be like in Oz or Alaska in the backcountry. It really can make a difference. The military doesn't supply them for nothing.

Now, posers who drive around town with red Blitz cans on their J**p Liberty's roof are a different story. Most of them don't even own the spout.

Of course, you gotta watch those Russian's too, Otto. You just never know!

Too many. 7 Total. 4 in use (3 with fuel, 1 with water). We have capacity for 8.

I got one gas and one water but how do attach the spout securely? I bought some b/c the PO didn't have a spout but they didn't come with anything to secure it. I'm using zipties now but its ghetto.

I recently threw away about a dozen old "blitz can" style jerrys 'cause they were leaking. Between the Specter cans, NATO cans and my remaining blitz cans I've probably got thirty or so around here. Eight fit into the can rack on the back of my tan '40. The others are carried in my other rigs or in the M416/M100s. Got a couple of 15 gallon "drums" too. Occasionally we toss a 55 gallon drum or two in the back of one of the trucks.

Nothing to do with survivalist silliness. Just long trails and conditions that dictate low fuel mileage.

Mark...

2 Wedco 5 liter gas cans is it for now for the INTI rack. I've got two 7 gallon plastic jugs I put in the rig for expeditions.

Five liter? That's a total of about two and a half gallons.

Or did you mean 20 liter?

7, but haven't had to use them for a while. My 40 has an 18 gal aux.
I got most of the use when I had my '47 Studebaker pu with no guage.

How many Jerry cans?

I have a 40 gallon main tank and carry eight five gallon gas cans. Two cans are on the tire carrier and six on the roof. I can carry more in my M-416 trailer. At 7 MPG I need all I can carry. Especially in the middle of nowwhere El Paso, Texas.

I only have 3,2 for water 1 for diesel. I dont usually need to carry fuel unless Im doing something crazy like crossing Australia via the desert on a Easter long weekend and all the Aboriginal settlements have closed.
I have 2x 90 litr fuel tanks so that helps.
I need some more for water.Last week when I was away I was using 10-12 litres per day.
I might fit one of those rubber bladders under the floor somewhere

I gave my 2 Blitz style cans to my dad and I have 3 nato style cans.

6 total, 4 gas and 2 water. I picked them up last year for our Death Valley trip. Driving a fj62, I think extra cans are a neccesity on a long off road trip.

Scepter cans are indeed nice. 3x gas, and 3x water, 1x diesel. Carried only for long trips. I use the water cans more than the fuel ones.

I have 4 NATO cans for gas. I only bring what I need for a trip.

3 Nato cans for fuel. 2 blue plastic Specter for water

Regards

Alvaro

I have 6 NATO gas and 4 NATO water which I'm actually trying to sell(see sig) at the moment.

I like the NATOs a lot, but I think I'm gonna get some plastic Scepters next.
