Really I don't think there is any issue with eating food that has been in the freezer to long except for taste. Often times I find it difficult to mask the freezer burn taste of beef and chicken. On the other hand I have had freezer burned shrimp that tasted great.

Agree, unless something's wrong with your freezer, it won't spoil. The taste will deteriorate over time. Most food is good well beyond the expiration date even if not frozen.

Case in point, I've got yellowtail filet's that I vacuum sealed and put in freezer 2 years ago, by all standards should be trash, but if you semi thaw it, and trim off about a 3/16ths layer off all sides, then slice it for sushi, or smoke it, it's great :meh:
