How far can I extend the mic from the radio?

New GRMS unit with the radio connected to the mic with the rj45 jack.

How far can I extend the mic wire with say a cat-6 cable?

Is 20 feet too much line? I have some 20 ft pieces with connectors. I figure I would custom cut the length eventually, but thinking of using the 20 ft temporary.

Putting the unit in the back in the cargo area behind a panel, with the mic up front.

Can't hurt to try the 20', my Yaesu is on at least 12' of seperation cable which is something like cat 3 equivalent.

Thanks .. I'm going to try it today. I have aa rj45 crimper for when I select it's exact location, then I'll shorten the line.

So it works fine even with a 20 foot temp extension line.

Then the manufacture said up to 10 is best, but up to 20 foot is fine.

run 100ft if you want, makes abslutely no impact, i run a 50ft and have the mic at my campfire
