How does this undercarriage look?

Justagirl - Would I prefer to have an underside as nice looking as Elmariachi posted, absolutely, but I wouldnt be turned off by the rust on the one you posted either.

As mentioned earlier, we are talking about the 80 series and they seem to be much less prone to rust problems then others. I owned a clean 60 series I bought in MT (no salt used on the roads there) and within one winter in Minnesota, the underside looked really bad. I picked up my 80 in Minnesota and it had spent its entire life in the northern midwest and it still doesnt look quite as rusty as what you pictured, they just seem to hold up better. A little PB Blaster soaking and things come off fine.

RavenTai - Thats just plain ugly! Looks like my 60 when I replaced the TRE's:mad:

Thats not bad at all, and with a shot or two of PB blaster everything on it would probably come off easily if needed. If the rest of the truck is in good shape, I wouldn't let that small amount of surface rust bother you at all. If you are in a dry climate it probably won't get much worse than it is.

Hope I'm not stepping on anyones toes....if you in California why not look for a rust free in the south west?

I am. I am.

They go fast, and I 'm picky.

Yeah, I will second that! It took me watching all the local ad's and posts on here to catch one the SECOND it went up for sale. The 80 I bought was only on the market for 1 day.

You have to sneak up on them....or they will duck into a mall parking lot and disappear forever!
