how do I take the fan off????

can't get it, I know I am missing something here......same with the in/ex manifolds. I don't think I missed any bolts. is it just stuck and I need to beat the piss out of it to make it move?
 
you need to take the fan and fan clutch off as one unit, then tak the fan off the clutch, the fan shround also need to come off I think
 
no the waterpump stays one, just take the 4 nuts off that hold the fan clutch to the pump, then take out both as one unit, then take fan off(4 screws)

i didin't have any problems, but i have skinny arms that fit between the fan and shroud. you can unbolt the fan, but to pull it from the engine compartment, you'll probably have to pull the shroud also.
 
I have the shroud off already. maybe I didn't look hard enough for the clutch nuts (ha ha, clutch nuts!).....I'll keep you posted. heading out to the garage right now.

Just to state the obvious-this job is much easier with the radiator out. If you are not willing to do that, then you will definitely have to take the shroud loose from the radiator.
 
did you get your in-ex manifold off?
 
did you get the egr pipe that runs out the bottom by the downpipe? it runs into a cooler on the side of the engine. also the two bolts hidden on the bottom in the center of the manifolds? holding hte intake i believe. there should be i believe 6 bolts at 17mm and 2 at 15mm on hte ends

the two hidden ones were the culprit......but she is off. gotta put it all back on now. I need a new heat risor insulator, couple bolts/washers here and there, new vac lines (no wonder the PO couldn't get this thing to pass smog!!!!!) and various other random parts that I'm sure will give me another big bill at SOR. Oh well, I have learned a ton and 60s ROCK!!!

I am having a bitch of a time getting the AC and alternator to fit back in the right place (probably wasn't in the right place to begin with). looks like the alt bracket isn't letting the AC sit correctly, or vice versa. any suggestions? I can try to take some pics tomorrow if needed.

sorry i have no experience with those(the alt bracket not letting the ac problem) but if you start a thread someone will come to your aide. i dont see how they could be a problem though. they are on the passenger side front of the motor right?

Um, why pay SOR prices, box charges, and shipping when C-Dan is a phone call away?

yep. the bottom of the alt bracket won't let the a/c sit square in its bracket. is it time to break out a hammer???

I have seen people post that before, regarding C-Dan. what is up with that? he gets us a cheaper price, no handling or box charges and no shipping?!?!?!? if so, what is the number?

Yes. Besides the great pricing, etc., you get great service from Dan. I Usually just tell him what I'm trying to accomplish, and he tells me the parts I need.
