How about smaller tires?

Considering moving the LC up north for the winter and plan to install winter tires. I have a 1 year old set of Blizzaks in P245/60R18. Obviously smaller in overall height than even the standard P285/60R18s that came stock on my LC. Looks like it will impact the speedo readout minimally. Other than the look of a smaller sidewall, which I couldn't care less about, are there any downsides? Anyone done this before?

The biggest downside will be your dignity, driving around a neutered cruiser on doughnuts. :p
Those are 30x9.5 size tires. They will look tiny.

On the plus side it'll be like stepping up to 4.11 gears and give you a bit of extra oomph from a traffic light

This discussion is moot. Those Blizzak tires are a Standard Load ISO-Metric tire with a 105 Load Index. It is not possible to inflate those tires to any pressure that would be safe for your LC200. Even at Max pressure, each tire is over 400 pounds below the required minimum Load Limit.

In other words, this smaller tire would be unsafe at any speed (apologies to Ralph Nader).

Sounds good. Figured they wouldn't be the same spec as my Load Range E winter tires on the 100 but didn't realize they were that far off.

My winter tires are 265/65-18 (31”)Hakka 7. When I got them for some reason they were ~$500 less then a 32-33”, so it was an easy decision to go smaller. They are 2” smaller then my summer tires and other then riding softer (p vs LT) I don’t notice the smaller tire at all, although off roading in the winter is much different than the summer. I’ve had them for 5 winters now.
