Well, now you guys are making my project last longer. I have a canvas bucket that I have used before when camping so I will have to go get a "T" with a shut off valve and see if the little pump can handle the job. I'll report back tomorrow on the results.

Hang the bucket from your rack and it will be a non issue. One of my water filters is a Pur Camp filter. Scoop up the water and hang it where ever, works great.

That is an amazing price for such a sweet little unit! Great install too!

I'm going to have to get that instead of the heat exchangers that hook up to the engine's water heater hoses. The price is amazing once again.

I'm thinking about mounting mine where the spare tire used to be on a slider to pull it out when it is time to use it... that is dead space anyway under there... or maybe on a hitch with a shower curtain setup to simply "plug" it into the trailer hitch area when you need it.

2 thumbs up for your project!! :grinpimp:

Once again, Mr. tunnel vision. :bang:

Thanks for solving that problem. That was way too easy. I'll have to start giving you harder problems!

I too have this heater mounted on my m416 and have to say that after spending 5 days camping with it I love it! the exhaust is a lot cooler than I expected but still hot!(dont read i am saying its cool) The best part is my fiance says its the best thing ever. Now she has no hesitations to camping. Nothing like a hot shower thats easily adjustable after a long day of hiking out in the middle of no where. I highly recommend this little unit. Its quiet and ignites using 2 d cell batteries. I originally wanted to install a heat exchanger in my truck but am much happier with the silence of not running my truck to take a shower. I have a 20 gallon water tank I installed under my trailer and 3 people were able to use it for most of the trip but we take quick showers :) We did have to refill the tank beacuse my fiance liked it so much I couldnt get her out of it. Next time I will just turn it off when shes in there too long:) I think we took 7 showers in total but that all depends on your water consumption per shower.

Oh yea and the hose they supply with the unit that connects to the shower head is ridiculously short...like 3 feet or something. I replaced mine with a longer hose.

Awsome unit... on my list. Was also going to go exchanger route
Thanks for the write up and ideas

Great job.

Do you think that unit would survive on a roof rack (mounted under a canvas cover) or would that be too hard on it.

Im thinking it would get added to the rig for excursions as one unit, roof rack, RTT, and hot water all in one.:hhmm: (maybe not one piece, but all at the same time).

I think it needs to be inside something. Maybe building a small waterproof box to put it in. It does have electrical components that might be damaged by exposure. The heat exchanger fins are rather fine as well, easily bent. It is a great unit though and keep the water a pretty even temp between on and off cycles for the shower.

Eccotemp L5 + Flojet Water Pump

photogod, slick set-up there.

I second the external water source usage question? I know a member who has a on board shower thingy and he can drop a hose into the river/stream/creek/lake/pond whatever, suck water up into the system and shower that way.

That would be the real ticket and not have to carry water with you.

Concretejungle, you can do the same thing with the Eccotemp L5 by connecting it to an inline water pump.
The Eccotemp L5 was originally designed to be used with a garden faucet but that may be hard to find in the wild so some people carry an inline water pump and connect a vinyl tube to plunge in a lake or river and pump water to the Eccotemp.
At CampingShowerWorld.com we noticed that a growing number of people were doing it so we decided to carry and sell both products together.
You can find both products here: Eccotemp L5 & Flojet Water Pump

We also shot the test we made using both products and that might help understand how both units can be hooked up together: Eccotemp L5 & Flojet Water Pump Video

Hope it helps.
