horn relay?

this is prob a dumb question but i installed all new wiring in my cruiser a painless kit. and i also installed a chevy tilt steering coulmn now the wiring harness has a plug in it with 4 wires that go to it and it relates to the horn. the plugs wires go to the steering coulmn, the horn and power from the fuse box. my question is is there some sort of relay i need to plug into this plug? i can take a piece of wire and cross over the power to the horn and get them to work but if i hit the horn button nothing happens. and i dont have power to the horn button so im guessing theres a relay is that right?

I would check if the horn button actually connects the two wires. Easiest is with an ohm meter. If it does, then you might not get enough current through the button to work correctly. If thats it, put a relay in it. If it doesn't connect, then trouble shoot to see if you can figure that out.

well i can never seem to get power to the button which is what i dont get. the horn wire goes to the steering coulmn i think it might be the spring loaded piece that allows for the horn to work even when the wheel is turned but im not sure. even when i stick my ohm meeter down in the hole it never changes. ive seen head light relays those things that look like blocks with 3 prongs for a plud to plug into so thats what makes me think i need some type of relay but i dont know anything about horns do they even make a horn relay?

the horn button provides ground to a relay, if you understand a relay it is simple, 12 v to one relay terminal, one to the horns, and one to the horn/ground which trips the realy
GM's and Toyota both work their horns like this so it should be simple
