I’m feeling like a complete idiot…

In the process of getting the horn in my wife’s 80 working again… wiring at the horns themselves was cut off, leaving the spades in the main harness connectors, and leaving me with no wire to pull out the spades.

Here’s a couple of pics…

I’ve removed and replaced spades before, but I’ve never had one fight me like this.

Do any of you have any suggestions for this idiot?

The little yellow piece of plastic holds the male spade tightly in place… and it’s able to slide in and out of the connector. I haven’t come across one like this before.

The answer is in the Wiring Harness Repair Manual. It has instructions on depinning every connector housing on the truck. It's in the Resources Forum, 80 section.

Thank you for that. I'll grab it.

For future searches: See the bottom right hand corner of p. 69 in the manual. I was doing what was specified there before I download the diagram. I still can't get the dang thing depinned... I'll keep at it.

Sometimes it's just dirty. I use CRC QD Plastic Safe Contact Cleaner liberally every time I pull one apart, inside and out.

This guy's little video helped a good deal (even after reading through the Wiring Harness Repair manual).
