Mine's been on for about 6 1/2 years with no problems:

Of course, I only use touchless car washes.

I like the idea of epoxying a washer to the broken tab to reinforce it.

When I installed mine, there was no tension when fastening it down - the shield matched the contour of the hood perfectly. You might want to try loosening all the fasteners then re-tighten them starting in the center and working outwards to the left and right one fastener at a time. That should, at least, equalize any tension.

I figured out the tension. The bracket was bent due to the car wash.

That happened on the first one I installed. I'm not sure if it was old or something was odd with the plastic, but the thing cracked and fell apart when first pressure was applied. The second one was better though.

Hmmm.... You might be able to use the plastic JB weld to affix a washer on top of that tab to give some structure for the bracket to attach to. If it was me I'd look for dark nylon washers.
That's what I would try... and just hope it lasts... Might be worth a try...

If you remove it - here's the best chance to get the mylar sticker off without hurting anything...
If you don't have a heat gun, a hair dryer works just fine.

Here is the broken tab. I was thinking about using a washer but I think the tab is going to break. There is a lot of stress on it to conform to the shape of the hood. You have to twist the bug shield to line it up with the screw. Hopefully the protective clear tape comes off easy since I will probably just remove the whole thing.
