homebuilt trailer: stage one complete

I just finished a camp trailer minus the removable box that will contain a camp kitchen, shower, solar lights, canopy, table, 2 spare 5 gallon gas tanks, 10 gallons of water, and a canopy. The trailer was salvaged from a home depot 3x3 trailer that was wrecked and I used a Chevy axle, cruiser wheels, fabricated my own lunette ring, and raised the axle 4 inches to sit level with the cruiser. It is nothing special but I thought I would post a few pics. The wheels are the same width as the Cruiser’s so it will follow in the rigs tracks.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I'll keep you posted on the travel-all box. But don't look for it too soon. I will not be able to do it until this winter.

Nice stout little trailer. I especially like the "token" fenders with the large tires.

If you used a Toyota axle, you could carry a spare chunk, as well as spare axles.

Keep the photos coming.

I like it! Any idea what it weighs? I am going to have to check the local laws on homebuilt trailers, I have always wanted a small trailer.

The actual trailer probably weighs about 200 lbs (MAX) since I can move it around and lift it if need be. Then you ahve the axle weight. What about 300LBS?

I had to put some type of fender on it and since I was using parts that I had available, I just modified the trailer's origional ones. I was planning on not putting anything on but on the first test drive, a cop said no no. But he might have been wrong b/c a small trailer under 1000 lbs does not need wheel protection (as unclearly stated in CA's DMV web page). I just did it so I don't have to deal with having to explain why it does not have any if I get pulled over for it. It is not a beauty by any means so what the hell. It is function over beauty I guess.

I planned on a Toy axle, but I was on a tight budget and a Chevy was available and in my price range. At least I can swap tires when I find some 35s to stick on it since I have 3 trailer wheels.
