Ran the 670 CFM unit on my 327, ran great up to 4700 rpm then fell on its face, i knew it was to small when i bought it but i was sick of carbs on angles. Ran flawless for all the years i had it and it was the old first issue type.
How large is the return line to the tank?
If it is to small it can cause issues.

I have the 670 cfm version on my 350.
I had a problem trying to get it to stop loading up.
The first problem was that I had the supply and return lines switched. I did not think that this would cause a problem but it did, never could get the idle mixture right, always rich.
second is that the return line was all flex line.
for some reason this matters.

other than that snafu the thing runs great.
grabs tire into 3rd :)

We have switched to the GM/Downey system (See my recent post). But are you saying the return should or should not be flex. I understand that if too small, it can cause pressure problems.

I have the origianl Holley 502-1 Projection on my SBC in my 40. The analog one. It was very simple to dial in and I can adjust on the fly if I need to. I really like it. Have had no problems with it. That said I can't leave well enough alone and am probably going to swap in a TPI unit sometime this year just to play... :)
