Need some help, I'm a little confused. The brakes on my rig have always felt like theirs something wrong. The rear brakes don't grab as they should I feel anyways. The truck is lifted and I have tried to adjust the rear proportioning valve but no difference eve on ice I can't get all 4 wheels to lock up. Just yesterday had a little snow put it 4 wheel drive and what do you know I had rear brakes. Any advice as to wtf would be helpful

the four wheel drive thing makes no sense to me. Have you tried to rule out it being a weird coincidence that they worked that one time?

Have you inspected the pads, callipers and disks and have you bled the lines or checked for air in the system? If you never felt right I'd be taking a close look.

On my HZJ77 I've already had to replace disks, callipers, and pads on the front and when it gets warmer I'm putting new pads in the back as they are getting thin but still enough life in them to get me through the season. I know you rig has more miles than mine, perhaps its time for some new parts.

You mentioned porporttioning rod (valve). Put a load in the back and see if they work. If there is a bend on the rod the rear brakes wont work properly.

You mentioned that you put it in 4wd and the rear brake worked , that may be because if the Front brakes lock in 4wd the rear are going to stop VIA 50/50 split in tranfer case.

Does the E-brake hold ?
