I looked through the 70 series tech and did not come across any trucks like this. I photo'd these in Western Samoa. Went to a Toyota dealership there and they were selling for around $30k US. Not available to the US market. No emissions, air bags, etc. They were diesel and 5 speeds as I recall. Almost wanted to move there just so I could drive one!!!

HJ75 had the 2H and ran from 84-90. Last of the metal bezels. They also had the 3F and in some countries, the 3B.Some low spec models had 4 sp ,no heater/A/C,no PS.

Are these models available in other markets? These are the only ones I have seen with a nice factory box. Others seem to be flat beds, (or trays down under!!)

They are either sold with the pathetically small and impractical factory box:D or as a cab chassis.
Nearly all the oz type are the latter but all will accept the factory box.
The factory box,or well body as we call them, is a rust bucket that limits the amount of room for load carrying.
I guess once it was practical ,but now the Hilux and other leading Japanese brands all have small vehicle with bigger beds

So who gets them? The ME and Oz are probably the biggest markets with Africa and South America next.
There are smaller markets in Polynesia ,India,Sri Lanka, and a few of the SE Asian countries. They are sold to mines all over the world inc Canada and the US, but these are not supposed to be passed onto the wider population.

This trucks can be find in any country except US and CANADA

You cant get them in Europe because they dont comply with EU . The new engines might comply but Im not sure they pass the crash tests.
None sold in Japan(troopy, pick up or cab chassis)

I meet a European, Dutch I think, with German plates who was driving a '03 or '04 near Calgary. Some countries must get them. There's lots of troopies in Germany

I know they had them at one stage but the guys on Buschtaxi (sp) said they could no longer get them due to emissions laws.
I think it was about 03-04 ,so the ones you saw may have been the last ones imported.

There was a thread in chat not long ago that said only the Prados were available and the 200 would not be sold there because it made the average overall carbon emissions look higher for the Toyota range.

Mercedes and others are also having this problem with their V12 gasser super limos .

Some lobby groups in the European parliament are pushing to only allow vehicles that produce no more than 100gms of carbon per klm
I think it is currently between 200-300 and the sticker on a new 200 series V8 TD said 240 gms
The 1HD FTE in a troopy was 310 and the 1HZ was 340:eek:

They are lots of HZJ75 in Malaysia, the lumber companies use them.
