HJ75 4WD Not Engaging

Hi guys, I turn my hubs to lock and put it into 4WD and nothing engages and no 4WD light on the dash.

Thinking it may be the free wheeling hubs.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I am working on the assumption that all switch gear is mechanical ie, no push buttons on dash board because the 4WD light has nothing to do with hub locks. Have you tried moving the 4WD gear shift between high & low as the linkage can get sticky if not used too often and result in the shifter not fully engaging.

I'm not sure what it could be..

If its a push button 4WD you want to check you've got voltage at the 2 vacuum solenoid's on the firewall and they are working correctly and that you have vacuum going to them and down to the actuator on the front output of the transfer case, the rubber diaphragm in the actuators are known to perish and fail after 20+ years as well I had to replace mine once. The 4wd light is turned on from a switch on the transfer case so if the transfer case isn't engaging 4WD it wont activate the switch and turn the light on, good luck
